COVID-19

Back in April-May time frame, I wrote a blog for my web page but never published it on COVID-19. I saw three parts to this virus, physical, political and spiritual. We are seeing the politically effects play out before our eyes. The spiritual effect is also apparent and we see a wide range of response from churches being shut down to people leaving church altogether.
I spent a lot of time, months ago, reading medical literature and watching medical training videos on viruses and how they start and the final impact they can have. Before I continue, let me say that I’m not an expert on the subject but one that has read and follow the subject. Viruses cannot live on their own, they need bacteria to accept them so they can grow by using their protein.
The U.S. National Library of Medicine defines mutation as: “A gene mutation is a permanent alteration in the DNA sequence that makes up a gene, such that the sequence differs from what is found in most people. Mutations range in size; they can affect anywhere from a single DNA building block (base pair) to a large segment of a chromosome that includes multiple genes.”
My intent in this post is to show how serious this virus really is. We now have nine months of dealing with the virus and know a little of it’s impact. We’ve learned a lot since I wrote this in May and realize that until a vaccine can be distributed, it is a very serious disease and we need to use wisdom and knowledge to understand it and accept our responsibility on how to handle it. As serious as it is, I don’t think we need to lock ourselves in a dark room and hide from it. Our responsibility is to stay away from those that we know have it and if you have the virus, stay inside until it is safe to be around others.
We still plan to get together with family that we know have not been around anyone that has been tested positive. We recognize that we are in the “vulnerable” group and take every precaution that we can to be safe.
Every night Helen and I read scripture on prayer and call out as many names as we can that God would protect them and heal those that have the virus.
Isaiah 41:10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
